History of Millcreek of Pontotoc |
| |
Millcreek of Pontotoc began providing therapeutic services in May of 2000 to meet the overwhelming needs for both mental health and educational services for emotionally disturbed children and adolescents in Northern Mississippi. Initially, Millcreek of Pontotoc was established as a 48 bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF). In 2002, Millcreek of Pontotoc added three licensed beds which increased the capacity of the PRTF to 51 licensed beds. In addition to the PRTF, on-site Day Treatment services were provided.
In 2004, a second Day Treatment Program for children and adolescents was opened in Batesville, Mississippi. Due to the vast number of referrals for Day Treatment services from that area the Batesville Program was expanded in 2006 to allow more therapeutic services to be provided to emotionally disturbed adolescents.
In 2005, a third Day Treatment Program for children and adolescents was opened in Starkville, Mississippi. In 2006, a fourth Day Treatment Program was opened in Greenville, Mississippi. During 2007, Millcreek began providing outpatient services to a local school district in Marshall County. Over 80 children are being served in this program. As a result of the expansive services, over 220 children and adolescents are served each day. Millcreek also has been granted a group provider number through the Mississippi Medicaid to provide services through the Expanded Early Prevention, Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) program. Through the EPSDT Program, Millcreek has been able to provide more intensive services to children and families in the Day Treatment and outpatient settings.
Millcreek of Pontotoc is owned by Youth and Family Centered Services (YFCS) of Austin, TX. YFCS was founded in 1997 and has become one of the premier providers of behavioral and educational services to abused and neglected children and adolescents in the United States. |
