Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF)
Millcreek of Pontotoc’s Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) is a highly structured therapeutic environment for children and adolescents ages 6-21 who are in need of residential services to effectively treat severe emotional and behavioral disorders. The goal of our treatment is to allow for our patients’ successful reintegration into their homes and local communities.
Our multi-disciplinary team includes a psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker, counselors, nurses and mental health technicians. Primary care physicians are an active part of the medical management team.
The patient’s family/guardian is considered an important part of the management team and is encouraged to participate in family conferences and discharge planning. This ensures that the patient’s progress and accomplishments are maintained by the new living and coping skills learned in the program. |
The unique developmental, emotional and educational needs for each patient are identified through a complete assessment process that includes physical, educational, psychological, psychiatric, and psychosocial evaluations. |
The Treatment which children receive while in PRTF is designed to meet their wide range of needs and problems. |
The PRTF utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as the primary therapeutic intervention model, with an additional emphasis on problem solving. |
Millcreek of Pontotoc utilizes a Phase System in the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) that is treatment-focused and based on the therapeutic goals and objectives individual patients are able to accomplish. Each patient is expected to accomplish several specific goals and objectives for completion of each phase. |
